Municipal and School Real Estate taxes are collected by the locally elected tax collector, Bernadette Speer.

Please note that payment of Union Township Taxes can only be made by check, money order, or with cash.  Credit card payment is not accepted.  NO CHECKS ARE ACCEPTED AFTER AUGUST 15.

Payment of Ringgold School District Taxes can be made with cash, check or money order, and can also be made by credit card, with applicable fee.    The fee is 2.45% of the total payment or $1.50, whichever is greater.   NO CHECKS ARE ACCEPTED AFTER DECEMBER 15.

Options for payment are to:

MAIL YOUR PAYMENT:  Your tax payments can be mailed at any time prior to the due date to the tax collector at the address above.  Suite 101 must appear in the address.   If you would like a receipt, enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope with your payment.   Or, you can enclose a note asking for the receipt to be left at the building for pick-up.

DROP-OFF YOUR PAYMENT:  There is a mail slot on the tax collector’s door inside the building.  You may drop your payment through her door while the building is unlocked during normal business hours.  Please call to verify that the building will be open at the time you intend on dropping off your payment.  If you choose to drop-off your payment, you will need to enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope for your receipt if it is desired.  Or you can enclose a note asking for the receipt to be left at the building for pick-up.

YOUR THIRD OPTION IS TO MAKE YOUR PAYMENT TO THE TAX COLLECTOR IN PERSON DURING HER OFFICE HOURS: 

PLEASE SEE YOUR TAX BILL WHICH WAS MAILED OUT TO YOU (or your designated agent) FOR THE SPECIFIC COLLECTION HOURS AND DATES FOR THIS TAX YEAR.

In general, the hours alternate between 4 days 4 hours and 2 days 2 hours dependent on the discount periods throughout the 2nd-4th Quarters, with no hours in the 1st Quarter as follows:

General Yearly Schedule (always refer to your bill for specific times/dates)

January through March (nothing due)
No Hours – 1st Quarter

Municipal RE Collection

March through April (discount period for Township Real Estate tax):
4 days/week for 4 hours/day, Mon-Tues-Wed-Thu, 10:00am-2:00p with two evening collections from 5p-7p (see this year’s tax bill which was mailed to you for specific dates for the  discount periods and evening collections)

May through mid August, (typically the 15th): (after discount for Township real estate tax)
2 days/week for 2 hours/day, Tues-Thurs, 10:00am-12:00p

School RE Collection

Mid August – Mid October, (typically the 15th):  (discount period for school real estate tax)
4 days/week for 4 hours/day, Mon-Tues-Wed-Thu, 10:00am-2:00p with two evening collections from 5p-7p (see this year’s tax bill which was mailed to you for specific dates for discount periods and evening collections)

Mid October through December 31: (after discount for school real estate tax)
2 days/week for 2 hours/day, Tues-Thurs, 10:00am-12:00p
